Sprouts is
A nature-immersive, farm and forest-based learning program
Located at Tangerini's Spring Street Farm in Millis, Massachusetts, Sprouts is the first early childhood program of its kind to be licensed in the state. Serving children 3 through 6 years old, our program offers a unique educational experience where children connect deeply with nature, animals, and the seasonal rhythms of farm life.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our program philosophy is inspired by aspects of Lifeways, Waldorf and Reggio Emilia philosophies, and is modeled after Waldkindergartens (Forest Kindergartens) in Germany, where teachers and children are outdoors in all types of weather throughout the year. This educational approach has existed since the late 1950's, mainly in Europe, and is becoming more popular in the US and other countries around the world.
Nature Immersion
Children spend half to a full day outdoors in local woodlands and green spaces, immersed in nature regardless of weather conditions.
Child-Driven Learning
We believe in the power of unstructured play. Children develop creativity, problem-solving, and social skills through self-directed exploration.
Farm Connection
Our unique setting at Tangerini's Spring Street Farm (139 Spring St, Millis, MA) provides children with authentic experiences in agriculture and animal care.
THE FARM EXPERIENCE
Our preschool is uniquely situated on Tangerini's Spring Street Farm in Millis, Massachusetts, providing children with daily opportunities to connect with the land, animals, and seasonal rhythms.
